So much has happened in the last 7 months it's almost too much to write about. We stayed in Michigan a little longer than our intended 3 weeks... 5 months and 1 week actually. I had so much fun visiting with my friends and family. I miss my friends terribly and Mia misses the spoiling by Nana and Grampa. I am glad we got to stay as long as we did but trying to buy a house was beyond frustrating when I was in another state.
After a series of failed attempts at buying a home we FINALLY found one that Kyle and I were both happy with! I could only rely on photos since I was a thousand miles away but I loved it. Now we are happy homeowners! The house is perfect for us too. Mia loooves her new room(that I'm painting one wall at a time. haha.) I'm so excited to decorate and clean my OWN home! It's such a nice feeling.
Mia is still in her terrible twos. We have been seeing a behavioral therapist since her tantrums are so violent and she has trouble with her temper. I'm basically learning how to parent her all over again. It's hard but it's worth it. Mia is also preparing with her speech therapist for the transition into the Head Start program. We stopped doing home visits and now we go visit Miss Temple and practice being in school. Mia is doing really well. She is such a smart kid she is just stubborn like her parents. Her vocabulary is getting bigger by the day and she's starting to form some short sentences too. I'm certain she will catch up by the time she is 4 thanks to the staff at SoonerStart!
We are in the midst of the holiday season and all of the shopping that entails. Mia has been so hard to shop for this year. We are sticking with books and clothes mostly. She has just about every toy on the planet anyway. We don't even have room for all of her stuff in the new house! I think we may be making a toy donation this season. Shh.. don't tell Kyle.
Hopefully I will be able to keep up with the blog now that we are settled in and have the internet again!

Our Trip to Michigan...
So Mia and I took to the skies....
I didn't realize how sad I was going to be to leave Kyle. I have come to see that he truly is my soul mate (or whatever. hehe). As much crap as we give each other it's because we both care so much and are stubborn. He is the one that loves me through my ups and downs, unconditionally.
Anyway...
Our trip went very well! Mia had a few crabby moments on the plane but the DVD player was a lifesaver!!! (Thanks Jenn!) The CARES harness was nice to have too although she doesn't like being stuck in a seat. She only screamed for about 5 minutes when we started to come in for landing because the air pressure was pretty terrible. Luckily the plane was nearly empty, only about 15 people on a 50 passenger plane.
We left on time and arrived early. It was a smooth trip, a little bumpy for the first couple of minutes and I nearly threw up on take off but I have a sensitive tummy. Mia's eyes were like saucers for the first 45 minutes. I don't know if she was scared or nervous but she didn't blink for an eternity.
Nana, Grandpa, and Auntie Amy are all very excited for Mia to be here. She's quite entertaining.
On a not so great note... I'm not feeling very well at all. I have been tired all day, I am nauseated and have a weird chest cough thing. It's not fun. I hope it's just because I'm tired from travelling.

Leavin' on a jet plane...
So our big travel day is upon us. Of course I can't sleep... mostly because I have a terrible cramp in my side but also because I am so excited! I am anticipating that Mia will behave with some coaxing aka 'I'm an awful parent using drugs to sedate my child'.
I can't wait to get the heck out of here. I'm going to miss Kyle and I know he'll miss us too even if he plays it cool. When he's not going out of his way to be a selfish butthead... he's a sweetheart who truly does love us, he just has his own way of showing it.
I'll be glad to get away from all the crap going on here but it'll still be here when we get back. Currently we're planning on moving into the new house the Friday after Mia and I return, water or not. Kyle is getting pretty sick of all the garbage going on here too... FINALLY! It only took forever for him to see what was really going on. That's for another day.
I'm not sure how exactly we're going to be able to live without water(is that even legal?) but Kyle said he'll know for sure next week what the engineers say about getting us all hooked up. If it's longer than two weeks after we move in, I have a serious problem with that. We have to scrub the place down and with no water that is nearly impossible to do effectively. Anyway, we'll figure something out, we always do. If all else fails there is a creek next to the house. We can take hillbilly baths... literally!
Ok... it's 1:30... I should sleep.

The Great Debate
Since our big travel day is near and my anxiety over how Mia will behave has reached an all time high I have given in to something I thought I never would. I've decided to give her Benadryl to keep her calm.
I am so anti-doping kids. I think antibiotics are prescribed too often, Tylenol is used too freely, and just about every kid nowadays is on some sort of medication for something at all times. I am a huge fan of good doctors and modern medicine in general but as a society we are over medicating. I won't get into a rant about drug and insurance companies but I will say they are fueling this perceived need for medication for anything and everything. You have a cold, take drugs, you stubbed your toe, take drugs, you can't sleep, take drugs, you're overweight, take drugs, you're underweight, take drugs. I do take pills for things but I hate it. Does that make me a hypocrite, probably. I just don't want Mia to be drugged for no reason.
That brings me to my decision to drug her for no reason. Ugh. Mia is difficult, I'm sure most two year old kids are, but in addition to not listening she throws fits at the drop of a hat. She's loud, quite possibly the loudest kid I've ever heard. This happens in normal situations, at the mall, restaurants, people's homes, I am dreading what will happen on an airplane. Mia has sensory issues(just like her mommy). She doesn't like not being able to see around her, she hates it. That alone can cause a Red Alert tantrum. Given the sensitive nature of flying these days and the fact that people can get kicked off a flight for wearing too skimpy clothes or having an autistic toddler and anything in between, I'd rather not take my chances. I would rather her be calm and sedated(yuck) so we can get from A to B quickly and without a nervous breakdown. It's not that I would be embarrassed if she had a fit, I generally don't care what other people think, it's that I'm doing this alone. I have to be able to control her on a plane for over two hours and the usual bag of snacks and DVD's may not be enough.
I feel awful. I know people do it all the time but that doesn't make me any less of a hypocrite. That's something I cannot stand. Home Inspection
Our home inspection was today and it went really well! Thank goodness Diana watched Mia for us because it took kind of a long time. Mia loves Aubree and Diana... I think everyone does!!!
There is nothing majorly wrong with the house, a few minor things that Kyle can fix.
A few shingles need replaced
Windows need caulk replaced on exterior
Heating element needs to be replaced in water tank
Range cover is loose
Air conditioning wouldn't turn on
Insulation is a little thin in spots where the mice have been in it
Obviously we have a ton of mice that have taken over but there are more creatures too. The inspector found a snake skin in the gutter, an armadillo hole under the porch, and a birds nest in the porch. Those critters have good taste in homes but their eviction day in near. I could always just open an animal sanctuary and charge people. hehe.
The inspectors, a husband and wife, were super nice and so cute. I have to give it up for anyone who can work with their significant other for over 13 years. Kyle got there late so I had lots of time to chat with them.

Yay!!
Our offer for the house has been accepted!!! Assuming all goes well with the inspection (i.e. no termites, major structural issues, etc.) we are good to go!!!
Unfortunately, Kyle is going to have to take care of everything on his own while I'm in Michigan but on the plus side he won't have to worry about us since we'll be in good hands. :)
The current plan is to contact the water department Monday and get that ball rolling, get any inspections and appraisals done per the bank's requirements, and sign on the dotted line! Assuming everything is good to go we will be closing before May 28th!
Cross your fingers that we get the rural water hookup shortly thereafter! If not, it's a water tank temporarily. Worth it!

Always my baby...
I guess I have been blogging a lot, maybe to make up for neglecting it for so long. More than likely it's because Mia is worth bragging about!
So much has changed in the last year of her life, she is taller, faster, crazier, and more talkative but she is still, and will always be, my baby. I didn't think it was possible to love her more but everyday she gives me a reason to almost cry happy tears that she is my daughter. Yeah, she can be a brat and I'm not a huge fan of her tantrums but they almost make the sweet moments even sweeter. I once heard that perfume that did not have an added scent that, on it's own, was pungent it would not smell as fragrant. I believe it.

House Hunting
Kyle and I are working pretty hard on trying to get our own home. I am trying not to get too excited about this house but it is simply amazing. Never in a million years would we be able to afford this house under normal circumstances. Luckily for us it is a foreclosure and it has kind of a major, and expensive, issue that we are 100% willing to fix. Once it is repaired, the home will be worth double what we are paying for it! I'm not sure how long that is going to take but Kyle seems to think it will be pretty quick.
I am excited for Mia to have her own room, not a rented or gifted space. She will have tons of room to run and play! I know she'll love it. This is a home we can easily live in forever. The idea of buying a home that Mia will be able to grow up in is such a satisfying idea. Three acres of great property, a huge detached garage, and it's in a secluded area with a fantastic view of the mountains(Well, one mountain until you get to the main road).

Lindsey was saying how grown up Mia is looking and I am inclined to agree. Also a lady stopped me today to tell me Mia looks exactly like me. She was blown away. I mean, there is a family resemblance but I don't know about identical. Lets look back on some photos of my boo bear.

My baby is a big girl...
Yesterday was Mia's 2nd birthday. We have been sick all week, Mia has the worst of it, so it was not the most fun day but a milestone nonetheless. While Mia napped I went the WalMart to get groceries and I picked up the new 'Wubbzy' DVD and McDonald's, Mia's favorite, for lunch. The day started to look up. My big girl is full of personality lately, even more than usual. She has learned how to crab walk and her dancing skills are 'off the hook'. haha.
We spent all afternoon hanging out, watching Wubbzy and dancing. I am so in love with my big girl! She is the cutest and funniest little person I have ever made. I am so proud of everything she has accomplished this year and all of the challenges we've had to overcome together. She keeps me sane even when she's being insane.

slacker.
Our internet has been acting crazy and blogger requires lots of speed and whatnot to function properly. Plus we've just been straight up lazy. Mia was/is sick with something nasty. Things have been a little chaotic at home and I am starting to loathe the internet. haha. Maybe it's just the dot that's coming. We didn't forget about you blog.

Wow.
Kyle's family came to visit last week for the holidays. I'm glad that's over. Everyone had the flu almost the entire time they were here. Gross. We had it a few weeks ago so Mia was fine but her cousins were very sick. It was not a fun vacation for anyone.
